Allie and Joel are both such amazing people, I’m so glad they found each other. I remember getting to know them better when a group of us went bowling together, it was such a fun evening! Coincidentally I believe that was the day they started dating as well. Then when Joel messaged me to see if I could photograph their proposal I was like “HECK YES!” Another proposal is something I’ve been wanting to photograph for a long time. Joel told me his plan, that they’d go on a date to see some lights and then head back to the house, where some lights would be set up in the backyard for him to propose to her. I was unsure of how it would turn out with how he had described it, I thought in my mind the lights would be on the ground, and would kind of look like a seance or something lol. But wow, Joel’s mom transformed the backyard arch into something so beautiful! You can see their proposal and almost dog sabotage, here: Allie and Joel: The Proposal). You can also find their engagement session here.
Getting married during a pandemic, what a thing to be able to say!
Allie and Joel were married at Sunrise Community Church surrounded by friends and family responsibly distanced in their groupings. Then we headed to the Foundry Room for some portraits indoors as it rained outside. Then we headed back to their ceremony at Ridgewood Community League, which funny story, that’s where I held my own wedding reception 6 years ago at!
I cannot tell you how in awe I was with how they transformed their ceremony and reception spaces. It was absolutely stunning! I was thoroughly impressed.
